Spartan Radio casting purchased numerous other radio and television over the years. It was renamed Spartan Communications in 1995. WNCT CBS News started telecasting a 24-hour program in July of that same year. It was done after in the past having logged off during the overnight hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
The WNCT CBS radio channels were auctioned off in 1998. WNCT CBS remained the flagship of the company until it fused with Media General in 2000. Earlier to this, CBS 7 was the last residual regionally owned television channel in the business. The channel shared some assets with WNCT which is now WNCT in Toccoa, Georgia.
