The channel started telecasting on November 30, 1984. It came out as the business’s first independent station. WDBD FOX News was also the first television channel in Mississippi to not be associated with a network. Jackson Family Television owned the authority of the channel. In 1989, the WDBD FOX was auctioned to Donatelli & Klein of Bethesda, Maryland. This deal made the channel related outlet to WDBD in Chattanooga. Pegasus Telecasting took out Donatelli & Klein in 1993. The channel moved to The WDBD in October 2001. This left Jackson without an over-the-air Fox associate for the next two years. The related WDBD of Portland, Maine also made the shift at the same time. It was done because Pegasus and Fox failed to agree on an association agreement for the two channels.
