The channel is also accessible on Hawaiian Telcom 2 statewide. In March 1994, the KHON FOX News Telecasting Company entered into a contract with minority-owned communications firm Savoy Pictures. These were a division of News Corporation. The reason for the mutual deal was to form a television. It would be under the ownership of a group called SF Telecasting. On August 25, 1994, the company purchased KHON FOX.
The purchase came along with KHON FOX in New Orleans, Louisiana, and KHON FOX in Mobile, Alabama for $229 million. Therelatedchannel WLUK-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin was sold to the company one month prior. It happened in a separate $38 million contract. For quite a while it was challenged by an FCC petition. The petition was filed by NBC claiming that the deal disrupted foreign investment limits for U.S. telecasters. The fifth Burnham station named KHON FOX News in Bakersfield, California was left out from the SF deal. KHON was instead rolled off to West-wind Communications. This was a new company which came into being by several former Burnham executives.
